On August 20, 2026, as part of the Unified Information Day event themed “Environmental Culture: Everyone’s Responsibility,” Mikhail Yuryevich Gorbach—Deputy Head of the State Control Department at the Grodno Regional Inspectorate for the Protection of Animal and Plant Life—visited the Grodno Tobacco Factory “Neman” JSC.
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of the comprehensive measures being implemented in the Republic to protect the environment. State support for the forestry sector was highlighted as a key priority.Administrative measures are being used to combat unauthorized dumping: waste disposal controls are being strengthened, fines are being introduced, and public education efforts are underway.
Current issues of environmental safety, environmental protection, urban greening, invasive plant control, waste management, and responsible animal welfare were discussed.
The expert paid special attention to the work of the sanitary and epidemiological service. This included the sanitary maintenance of land plots and adjacent areas, safe behavior rules in recreational areas, the quality of drinking water and measures to improve it, and the prevention of tick-borne infections such as tick-borne encephalitis and Lyme disease.
Special attention is being paid to reducing emissions from transport. Industrial enterprises are also being modernized. These measures allow the Republic of Belarus to maintain a balance between economic development and the protection of natural ecosystems.
The speaker noted that fostering an environmental culture requires the unwavering efforts of both the state and each citizen. This is a painstaking and multi-year journey, but it is through joint efforts that we can build a foundation, preserving natural wealth for future generations!
